Can you use metal sockets and switches?

You will only be able to use our range of metal sockets and switches if you have an earth connection.

An earth connection is a wire that provides an electrical connection to the ground. The reason behind an earth wire, is to protect against accidental electric shocks. If you are unsure whether you are able to use our range of sockets and switches, please consult your qualified electrician who will be able to assist you further.

If you require any further information regarding any of our sockets and switches, please email us on sales@socketstore.co.uk where our customer service team will aim to reply the same working day.

Why choose these sockets and switches?

In the words of a well known advert, these are not ordinary metal sockets and switches these are G&H sockets and switches.
There are many ways to save money on the production of sockets and switches:

  • Use cheaper mild steel and then paint them to look like brass or copper
  • Use cheaper mild steel and plate them with a thin brass or copper layer
  • Use plastics that look metallic usually containing metal powder

The list probably goes on. G&H don't use any of them. If it's a brass plate, then it's solid brass, same if copper. For steel finishes stainless steel is used. Mild steel is used for solid colour finishes as it's the best metal to powder coat. The plates are pressed and hand finished here in the UK. So if you're looking for something a bit special, see our G&H ranges below.
